We’ve all heard that if you have a fast metabolism your body will burn more calories per minute then if you have a slow metabolism. But how do you change your metabolism? How do you tell your body to start working faster to lose weight? The three hour diet is all about kicking your metabolism into shape. By eating the right foods every three hours, you can control your blood sugar level which gives you energy throughout the day, and keep your metabolism working at a constant pace.
The basic diet plan consists of three meals a day and two snacks in between. Of course, don’t forget your eight cups of water too. Meals should contain a combination of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and fruits and vegetables.
There’s no need to count calories in the three hour diet, but if you want to lose weight, overeating is strictly off the table. Portions should be contained to small meals and small snacks. If you know you will be eating every three hours, there is really no need to overindulge. At the same time, this diet only works if you eat enough at each meal/snack to keep your metabolism up and running. Use the 20 minute rule. Start with a moderate portion of each food group in your meal. Wait twenty minutes to allow your stomach to send the message to your brain that you have eaten. If after twenty minutes you still feel hungry, have a bit more to eat. If at the end of the twenty minutes you feel satisfied, pack up those leftovers and have them another day!
Foods to choose from for healthy weight loss:
• Whole grains including bread, crackers, pasta, rice, sweet potatoes, etc
• Lean proteins including fish, chicken, and turkey and low fat dairy such as yogurt, milk, or low fat cottage cheese
• Nutrient rich fats such as olive oil or avocado
• Any fresh fruit or vegetable is great. Make sure to include lots of leafy greens like spinach, broccoli, and brussel sprouts.
This diet works great with a steady exercise regimen and is a healthy diet for people who are taking diet pills, especially pills like Phentermine or Meridia/Reductil.
